Signing-up (how to join)

  • Overview

    The sign-up process requires the folllowing steps.

    (1) A new visitor to the site should find the "create account" tab in the main menu.

    (2) Clicking on "create account" opens a form with which user account details can be submitted for review by the Research Cooperative administrator or moderator. All the fields in this initial form are required.

    (3) After submitting the application to create an account, a message will be sent automatically to the email address provided, notifying the owner of that address that the application is being processed.

    (4) When the application is accepted, a message will be sent to confirm this.

    (5) After receiving the confirmation email, the user can return to their account, edit the account fields previously seen, fill further optional account fields for the Administrator (for comments/questions), and set up one or more public profiles using the profile tab next to their account tab.

  • A New User has just signed up on researchcooperative.org!

    This "New User" message (title above) is sent automatically to the Research Cooperative Administrator (currently Dr Peter Matthews) and Profile Moderator (currently Mr Rupam Das), and will be seen by one or the other. The message contains the following information:

    ***NEW USER MESSAGE CONTENT**

    A new user has just signed up on researchcooperative.org :

    user name: etc.
    email address: etc.
    ip address: etc.

  • Message sent after approval of application to join

    The Research Cooperative requires a personal, human approval process to help ensure that all members of the network have a real interest in research, science communication, education, educational publishing, and related areas of work.

    When your application to create a Research Cooperative User Account is approved, the following message is automatical sent to your private email address (the address given in the initial Signup form after going to the "Create account" tab in our main site menu).

    "Event notifications" are notifications that might be sent to your priviate address depending on your activity within the network.

    All the different possible notifications can be reviewed and selected or deselected individually, or you can unsubscribe from all automatic notifications.

     

  • Signup Note

    Welcome.

    The core features of our network are:

    (1) service OFFERS and REQUESTS (see "Services"),
    (2) our public member profiles (see "Members" subtab under Services), and
    (3) the network search tools (see the "Explore" tab).

    After joining the network, please visit your "Account Settings" tab under your profile name in the main menu - then complete or update your public profile and private account details.
