A first collection of audio sources

Here are some notes on what I have found.

Soundcloud - very active; a great site for musical diversity, for which it is mainly known.

Sound Bible: The Sound Encyclopedia - free sound clips, public domain sounds [no new entries since 2008, but still online]

Wikimediacommons - a good source, but still not well developed in most areas.

Natural sound collections may be useful for science communication projects.

 

For example, an educational website reporting work on lions might like to include the sound of a lion roaring.
