Art on the art and craft of paper making and using paper
In Japan artists have long enjoyed making pictures of people engaged in art and craft making.
The full circle is achieved by artists using hand-made paper ( washi ) to show pictures of people making hand-made paper.
The following ukiyo-e woodcut, displayed by the Library of Congress ( https://lccn.loc.gov/2009615107 ), was published between 1772 and 1801. The print shows paper being made by dipping a frame into a vat of water and pulp, and stacking the sheets to one side.
