Benefits for publishers

[Return to FAQ]

Publishers and journals can benefit in many ways by joining the Research Cooperative. To support publishers and journals, the following two-step approach is followed:

1. First step (by the publisher or journal manager/editor)

Any research-related publisher, journal, organisation, or representative staff, can join the Research Cooperative. Creating a profile page for your company or organisation gives it greater visibility, within our network and beyond.

After joining the Research Cooperative, the publisher or journal can use our website to seek out editors and translators for their contributors (authors), or for direct employment by the publisher or journal. The publisher or journal can also use our website forums to seek out writers, reviewers (referees) for specific tasks, or as members of a support network to be called upon as needed -- as volunteers or as paid professionals, depending on the aims and circumstances of each publisher or journal.

2. Second step (by the Research Cooperative)

A page for a publisher or journal support group is made inside our network (see 'Publishers and journals' under the members tab in main menu). The logo of the publisher or journal can be displayed, if available.

Ideally, the publisher or journal will include a link to our website in its page for "Author guidance", "Author help", or similar (the title varies from publisher to publisher). Since we operate as an NPO, the publisher can lead authors to potential editors and translators, through our network, without having to recommend specific individuals or companies. This will eventually lead to better quality submissions and help raise or maintain publication standards.

Value of the support group
Members of the Research Cooperative can freely join the support groups for each publisher or journal, in order to learn about the publication from other members or the publisher, and in order to join discussions related to the subject area of the publisher or publication.

If the publisher has a representative member in the Cooperative, the support group can be placed under direct adminstration by the publisher.

In all of these ways, the benefits of cross-linking and mutual support can be expanded for members of the Research Cooperative, and for the publishers and journals.
