Open access journals for language and linguistics
The international Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is a wonderful source of potential topics for discussion in the present group.
Using the keyword 'language' we can find 127 journals listed, and with 'linguistics' we can find 157 journals. Of course there is overlap between the two lists, and there are presumably many other related journals that have not yet become open access and that are not yet registered by DOAJ.
Behind each journal lies a history of interest in language, and a group of people who have made efforts to communicate knowledge in various areas of language and linguistic research, for many different audiences.
Each journal is a potential topic for discussion here, and provides a way to discuss language, linguistics, and the communication of research at the same time.
It would be great if different members of this group can look at the journals listed by DOAJ, and investigate their history, and introduce each journal here, one by one.
