Checking member email addresses

  • Checking that our members can be contacted

As a social network, we want every member to be registered with valid email address, so that other members and can contact other members or the site Administratorat any time, by email.

We do not publish the email addresses of our members, but the system knows the address used for registration by each member, and uses this to:

    • forward replies made in response to public messages (forum posts).
    • relay private messages between members who do not have direct email contact.
    • forward messages sent to a Group in which the member is also a member.
    • forward administration and support messages from the Research Cooperative.

In 2017, we checked the email addresses fo all 7000+ members, and found that most are still working, valid addresses. Members with addresses that are no longer valid can still attempt to log in, but their profile is no longer displayed as it is now in a separate category that requires manual renewal.

If your profile is no longer showing, it may be because your old email address is not working.

Please ask Admin if your account is no longer visible, and if you wish to update your email address.

From the 5th June, 2017, we will check just 20 member addresses per day. This means that on average, every address used for registration will be checked once every year.
