A useful review article in the Journal of Ethnobiology, vol. 31, no. 1, 2011
In this volume, F. S. Wyndham, D, Lepofsky and S. Tiffany have written an article reviewing the history of the Society for Economic Botany (SEB), the International Society of Ethnobiology (ISE) and the Society of Ethnobiology (SoE), and ethnobiology-related societies worldwide.
"Taking stock in ethnobiology: Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?"
The authors see the ISE, SEB, and SoE as having support roles for local, national and regional groups involved in the ethnobiological sciences. In a table, they present a timeline of establishment of ethnobiological societies worldwide since the 1950s. Outside of North America and Europe, they note the following (see below).
