Biographical: Contact tel: +60124230842 Office tel: +6046534582 Fax:+6046530017 Working languages: English and Malay Short bibliography: Dr. Amin Malik Shah is currently a Senior Lecturer in Department of Pharmacology, within School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He runs and heads EMAN testing & research laboratory, a CRO facility located within the school. Amin completed a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry & Pharmacology) in 1997 and Postgraduate Diploma in Science ( Pharmacology & Toxicology ) at the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 1999. In year 2001, he completed his MSc in Biopharmaceuticals in University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. He graduated with a PhD in the field of Molecular Pharmacology & Toxicology in UNSW in 2005. He spent most of his research at UNSW Bioanalytical Mass Spectrometry Facility (BMSF) under the supervision of Prof Laurence Wakelin and Associate Professor George Smythe. He served USM ever since his graduation. Throughout his tenure at USM, Amin also periodically served UNSW, School of Medical Sciences as a visiting lecturer for almost 5 years. He was also appointed as a visiting researcher at Division of Vascular Research, John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University for a brief time period. Currently he is a visiting academic at Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, University of Queensland, Australia. Most of Amin’s research interest focuses on development of drugs that target angiogenesis for the treatment of cancer. Many of his research activities in this field are centered towards natural products. He also has keen interest in DNA targeted drug design to produce more sequence specific chemotherapeutic drugs. Dr Amin is passionate in affordable chemotherapeutic medicine for the bottom billions. His laboratory is established on the platform of making the cost of drug discovery more affordable that will translate into cheaper medicine. The laboratory provides cancer drug discovery services for many researchers internationally.
