Biographical: I can speak Japanese and French to an advanced level, and can translate to and from both of these languages. I can speak conversational Mandarin Chinese, and can read and translate Chinese with time and a dictionary. I graduated with a BA in Japanese from the School of Oriental and African Studies, also pursuing Chinese as an elective unit. I spent a year abroad at Kobe University, where I learned further Japanese and took factuly classes on political thought and anthropology in Japanese. My final year dissertation was on the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and China in a modern historical context, analysing various levels of political and economic relations.
