I began in Australia as a science teacher (senior physics and chemistry, junior science, some mathematics) and then moved into teacher education. I have lived and worked in Papua New Guinea and Canada as well as Australia, and have also offered professional development to teachers in South Africa and the Philippines. I currently work at Griffith University on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. I am President of the Australasian Science Education Research Association (ASERA).
