Biographical: Dr. Sharan has supplemented 22 years of International clinical experience in Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation with qualifications in Biomechanics, Ergonomics, Orthopaedic Engineering, and Rehabilitation Technology. He has produced over 400 scientific publications or conference presentations. He is an internationally recognised expert in Ergonomics and Work Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (also called Repetitive Strain Injuries or RSI), having developed his own assessment and treatment approach called the SHARAN'S Protocol for RSI. He leads a team of over 150 medical professionals that has successfully treated over 150,000 clients with RSI from 35 countries including USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium and Norway since 2001. His prospective study on prevalence and risk factors for RSI in 35,000 Indian Computer Users is the largest study on RSI in the world. Dr. Sharan was the chairperson and presenter for several scientific sessions on Ergonomics and RSI at the World Ergonomics Congress 2009 in China, ODAM 2011 in South Africa, HEPS 2011 in Spain, World Ergonomics Congress 2012 in Brazil, SEANES 2012 in Malaysia and Orthopaedic World Conference at Dubai. Described as a "cult figure in the world of RSI" by the Wall Street Journal, Dr. Sharan is the Medical Director of RECOUP, which has a hospital and 6 clinics in Bangalore, 2 in Ghaziabad, and clinics in New Delhi, Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Thrissur. RECOUP provides Ergonomics and RSI Consultancy to over 70 major companies, including Oracle, Texas Instruments, Wipro, TCS, Cisco, NDS, AMD, Monsanto, Nokia, McKinsey, Bain, Schneider Electric, Adobe, Cairn, Shell, Headstrong and Honeywell. He has presented his work on Cerebral Palsy at International CP Conferences at Sydney (Australia) and Utrecht (Netherlands) in 2009, Brisbane (Australia), Toronto (Canada) and Pisa (Italy) in 2012.
