Biographical: Special fields of expertise: Hydrocarbon gas venting; geology and geochemistry of seepage systems; environmental biogeochemistry; petroleum systems; mud volcanoes; hydrocarbon gas chemistry; gas hydrates; microbial methane turnover; anaerobic and aerobic oxidation of methane; biomineralization and microbial carbonate precipitation; modern and ancient carbonate-shaping ecosystems; lipid biomarkers in sediments, rocks, microbial cultures; stable C and O isotope geochemistry. Additional fields of interest: Molecular ecology; microbial symbiosis; chemosynthetic ecosystems, marine carbon cycle; interactions between carbon, sulfur and iron cycles; bioenergy and biofuel, biotech. The last 15 years I devoted to the scientific industry although next to the fundamental research I have performed a number of jobs, which are related to a project management and logistics. I do like applying my skills in the "non-scientific world", since the approach often used in science helps in the "decision-making" situations outside of the scientific environment. I do appreciate innovative thinking across different business milieu and able of bringing people together since I strongly believe that a well-organized teamwork is essential for the success of a project. I like to learn and open for a fruitful exchange of various experiences.
