Imran did his MS & Ph.D.in the field of Geoinformation Science \& Remote Sensing from the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), Enschede, University of Twente, the Netherlands. Moreover, he obtained MSc degree in information technology from Punjab University College of Information Technology (PUCIT), University of Punjab, Lahore.

 

His focus of research is on applying techniques from (spatial statistics) statistics, computer science, and information technology in the field of GIS & RS, like mining very large (Geo-) data, data modelling, (Geo-) database design and management, Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) and use of WEBGIS for its implementation, but also issues of spatial data quality, RS image processing, mining patterns of change, all in a spatial statistical setting for the spatio-temporal analysis and decision support systems. Underlying application domains include agriculture, urban planning, land and water resources, and managing other natural resources.

 

For the last 15 years, he has been actively associated with research projects and academic activities in Asia, Europe, and Africa. His team was awarded research grant from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to pursue research on applying GIS \& RS in the field of agriculture in West-Africa. In Europe, he has been active in designing and implementing SDI-based Systems for the integrated assessment of agricultural information. Moreover, he participated in a research project for designing and implementing a system for (Geo-) data integration for UN-Peacekeeping missions.

 

Focusing these research themes, he is an author of many international research publications in leading European and American Journals in the field of GIS & Remote sensing. Moreover, he has presented valuable research works in many top-ranked European and American conferences.

 

 

Currently, he is working as Assistant Professor in the Institute of Geo-information and Earth Observation, PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi.
