Can anyone recommend a good book on the Roman cities of Asia minor?
I'm heading to Miletus, Sardis, Ephesus etc in the spring and I'd like a good history/archaeology book. Amazon is being unhelpful as the couple of books that seem aplicable have no reviews and no content description....boo.

Living in Nara, I am suddenly exposed to some effective communications from the city about its pride and joy, the Heijo Palace site. To date they have bee pretty ineffective in making use of the numerous archeological site they have, so it is a bit of a surprise to see them doing a good job of it this time. :-)

Of course, we have to wait until next year to find out if they continue to attract interest. And of course, they still make little use of older sites, such as the many burial mounds (kofun) in the area, which are one of the main reasons it was chosen as the location for Heijo Palace.
