Work: I'm a senior researcher at the PGP center, University of Oslo. Topics: Mass extinction, global warming, volcanic eruptions. I also write popular science, and have one book out about natural disasters and how they affect people and societies. It was translated to English in 2009 (Reaktion Books), Italian in 2010 (Odoya), and will be released in Bulgaria later this year (Perseus Books). I'm currently workin on my second book (about mountains) which will be published early 2011.
Favourite Publications: I read a wide selection of journals, and keep updated on Nature, Nature Geoscience, Science etc. I prefer books and blogs rather that popular science magazines.

Dear Henrik,Thanks for joining us. I looked and found that you work in a center for 'Physics of Geological Processes' ( www.fys.uio.no/pgp ). Would anyone at your center be able to comment on the geomorphology of coral sand beaches? There may something that has not been explored - in the physical chemistry of how such beaches form. I think it is not just a matter of deposition or erosion of loose sediments. My interest is related to questions about archaeology in such environments.Best regards, Peter (Co-op)
