Biographical: marymckee@aol.com Summary of Work Experience in the Contact Lens/Lens Care Business Mary F. Mowrey-McKee, Ph.D. I have been involved in research and development of contact lenses and contact lens care products since 1977. I have participated in a broad range of functional areas including microbiology (disinfection efficacy, preservative efficacy, aseptic filling, sterility testing, adherence of microbes to contact lenses), toxicology (in vitro and in vivo evaluations including assays and assessment of corneal metabolism, ocular upregulation of chemokines/cytokines in rats), invention of lens care formulations (patents filed on formulations, buffers, systems), analysis of biological molecules (proteins and lipids) on contact lenses, and development of ANSI and ISO standards for contact lenses and lens care. The following are included in the portfolio of lens and lens care products with which I have been involved in research and/or development: PHMB preserved saline, form fill seal saline, cleaning solution, effervescent enzyme cleaning solution, thermal enzyme cleaning solution, ReNu multipurpose disinfecting solution, simultaneous enzyme cleaning and disinfection, peroxidase/KI/peroxide disinfecting system, SOLOCare, SOLOCare Plus, AQuify, ClearCare disinfecting solution, Complete disinfecting solution, RGP cleaning and disinfecting solutions, silver lens case, SiHy contact lenses, PVA daily disposable lenses, colored/tinted lenses, and RGP lenses. I have served as the project leader for the development of the following standards: ISO 14730, ISO 14729, and ISO 19979 and ANSI Z80.18; currently working on standardization of a disinfection methodology involving the evaluation of the solution, lens case and lenses. I have published 18 research papers, hold a number of patents and have given 90 presentations on a variety of topics relevant to contact lenses/ lens care.
