Biographical: Nationality: Pakistani PMDC Registration No. 28764-S Tel: No. 92-21-36643002 Cell No. 0092333 -2317521 Email:drmunirashoaib@yahoo.com My name is Munira Borhany, female and I am working as an Assistant Professor of Haematology at National Institute of Blood Disease & Bone Marrow Transplantation, Karachi, Pakistan. After passing my membership exams (MCPS-Clinical Pathology) in 2003 and then fellowship exams FCPS-Haematology in 2008, I joined Bismillah Taqi Institute of Blood Disease as a Consultant Haematologist, whose name was changed later as National Institute of Blood Disease & Bone Marrow Transplantation (NIBD). Presently I am actively working for Haemophilia and various other bleeding disorders in Pakistan. I am involved in the “Capacity building of Haemophilia care in Karachi” project which was funded by Novo Nordisk Hemophilia Foundation since August 2007. My team completed PK1 in which we screened 650 patients with congenital bleeding disorders. Now this project is extended to countrywide known as PK4. Responsible for daily ward rounds for admitted patients and have three OPDs on alternate days in a week. I am the Head of the Blood Bank services of my hospital. Beside this as a member of organizing committee for Hemostasis & Thrombosis of Pakistan responsible to conduct Coagulation Workshops, lectures in Karachi & all over Pakistan since 2010. I am the first ever Pakistani Doctor to be the recipient of the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) Fellowship, training under the mentorship of Prof. P. M. Mannucci and Prof. Flora Peyvandi at the Angelo Bianchi Bonomi, Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center at the University of Milan, Italy. Since September 2011- till today, I am working at Haemostasis and Thrombosis, molecular biology laboratory. Formal training on genotype analysis will be achieved throughout the 6 months of my stay in Milan, Italy, and will be used to conduct the study in Pakistan. My main area of research and interest is Haemostasis & Thrombosis. I have authored five chapters and have many original articles as well as abstracts submitted to various international & national journals and conferences.
