Biographical: Dr. Nuria Forcada holds a personal Chair in the Department of Construction Engineering within the Group of Research and Innovation in Construction at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Spain. Prof. Forcada has a MSc in Industrial Engineering and an international PhD in Construction Engineering from the UPC. She currently has co-authored/edited one book and has authored/co-authored about 12 internationally refereed research papers, which have appeared in leading international journals such as Automation in Construction, Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, Journal of Performance of Constructed Facilities, Journal of Safety Research and Building and Environment. Prof. Forcada is a referee of a number of leading international journals such as Automation in construction and Construction Management and Economics and is member of the Editorial Committee of the Revista Ingeniería de la Construcción. She took part of the Scientific Committee for the International Conference on Costs and Benefits related to Quality and Safety and Health in Construction, Barcelona, 2001. She has supervised over 20 Master’s thesis and is currently supervising 3 PhD thesis related to rework in construction and communication management. Prof. Forcada is a member of the international committee W78-Information Technology for Construction from CIB (International Council for research and innovation in building and construction) and takes part in many national and international research projects funded by the European Union and the Spanish research council. She has been involved in many collaboration agreements with the industry, mainly SMEs of the construction sector. The current research interests of Prof. Forcada include: project and construction management; the development of quality frameworks in buildings and on-site operations to ensure performance requirements; the management of SMEs in the construction sector; the implementation of management systems in general and quality improvement and rework prevention in particular; the use of Technologies of Information and Communication (TIC) and mobile applications for the information and knowledge management; and the implementation of e-learning strategies both at university and enterprise level.
