Automobiles or Horseless carriages the way we know today came into being in the later part of the 19th century by a certain Mr Karl Benz in the year 1885-86. A gasoline or petrol 2 stroke engine powered this car. It was christened Benz Patent-Motorwagen.
I beg to differ in my concept because I believe 'automated mobility' is as old as the wheel. The invention of the wheel led to the creation of carts that were propelled by animals. We can classify the animal as the engine and the cart as the chassis. I think a bullock-cart can be called a pre-historic form of 'automated mobility' or dare I say 'a pre-historic automobile'. Thousands of years of evolution has turned the bullock-cart into the car we know today. Many of you might be aware that we also have cars that can fly and also sail over water.
I am sure most readers might not agree to my view point and I can't blame them. What all shall agree on is that Karl Benz's company Mercedes-Benz is one of the finest car companies in the world. The year 2014 was its Year of Excellence. Mercedes made huge progress in the premium compact space with the new A Class, CLA and GLA. Mercedes AMG won both the Driver's and Constructor's title in Formula One World Championship. The S Class is considered as the Best Car in the World and this is a testimony for the company that invented the automobile.
