Biographical: Roman Kunič finished high school for construction and continued his studies at University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering. Even as a student he was interested knowledge of thermal insulation, solar energy, as well as human psycho-physical responses to thermal, sound and light environment. After graduation he continued his postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, where as a young researcher performed experimental measurements and research, and through articles actively participate in conferences on energy saving, solar energy and passive architecture. In the mid nineties, he improved his knowledge of economics, management and operations of the postgraduate MBA study on Clemson University, SC, USA. At the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering he has finished doctorate thesis in 2007 with dissertation: 'Planning an Assessment of the Impact of Accelerated Ageing of Bituminous Sheets on Constructional Complexes'. He is an active member of the Slovenian Chamber of Engineers (IZS), he is publishing scientific articles, participate on conferences and lectures related to energy saving, environmental protection and evaluation of materials throughout the life cycle. Except for brief interruption he has always been employed in the industry of insulation materials. His aim is to raise awareness of planners, designers, and other users. He was always interested in knowledge and development in the fields of energy saving and the research of new, more reliable and more efficient materials. Today, he is using his knowledge as research and development manager in Slovenian leading producer of insulating materials FRAGMAT, where is he also responsible for education, transfer of experiences and technical applications.
