Biographical: Work at Sweco Enviornment AB: CV as follows:Stig Morling is one of the most experienced Swedish Senior Engineers in environmental engineering, with emphasis on water and wastewater treatment processes, both from urban areas and industries. He participated in the development of the technology and practices in this field during more than 40 years in Sweden and has been directing several applications of his knowledge in the international field, principally in North Africa, Eastern Europe, the Far East and Latin America. Stig has visited and worked in more than 19 industrialised countries and more than 17 developing countries. For the cities of Eskisehir and Nevsehir new WWTPs in Turkey Stig is acting as senior technical advisor, with special responsibility for analysing the contractors design documents and assessment of the start-up procedures. Within the Baltic rim Stig has worked with a large number of assignments, both in Russia, all the Baltic States and Poland. In the following pages these projects have been included. The following highlights of some of the recent projects are presented here: For the Russian city Rostov-on-Don Stig has been the project manager and senior process consultant in the study of an upgrade of the main WWTP, sized for 2,000,000 inhabitants. The outlined actions are now materialized through different contracts. The upgrade includes an improved nutrient removal status for the plant, as well a rehabilitation of the anaerobic digestion. Within a major capacity building project for Gosstroi Stig has been the senior Technical Advisor with respect for wastewater treatment issues. The project covered 6 different WWTPs at different Vodo-Kanal. For the city of Narva, Estonia Stig has been the project manager and senior Technical Advisor throughout the different phases, covering design, technical-financial feasibility study, elaboration of tender documents and tender evaluation. The new Narva plant includes advanced nutrient removal, along with a new anaerobic digestion plant. For the city of Riga Stig has been senior Technical Advisor regarding process selection for an upgrade of the main treatment plant. This assignment was performed in co-operation with Stockholm Water Company. For the KWC, Kaunas Water Company, City of Kaunas, Lithuania Stig has been the Project Manager and Senior Technical Advisor. Feasibility study regarding the extension of the WWTP to biological nutrient removal Tender documents for turn key and tender evaluation of the offers. The work has accordingly included an assessment of the existing anaerobic digestion project. For a Polish project, the wastewater treatment plant in Nowy Targ that is heavily polluted from Chromium based tanneries Stig has carried out both the basic investigations of the tanneries at site, the process plant design, training of the plant staff. At present Stig is studying the actual plant performance in relation to the loading conditions as part of his Doctor´s Thesis at the Royal Institute of Technology. For Sunpine AB and the Community of Piteå Stig has evaluated and presented different treatment options for the condensates from the Sunpine Bio fuel plant in Haraholmen, as a part of the Environmental Impact Assessment presented to the Environmental Court, (the permission was received in March 2008). The study has included a feasibility study regarding the option to treat the condensates by means of anaerobic treatment. For Haparanda/Torneå communities and Brewery of Lapin Kulta in Torneå Stig has evaluated and presented different treatment options for a separate treatment of the high strength brewery wastewater. The final selection was an UASB reactor (Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) for treatment of the wastewater.
