He earned B. Sc. in 1990 and M. Sc. in 1993 from the University of Karachi, Pakistan. He did Ph. D. in the field of Marine and Terrestrial Natural Product Chemistry in 2000 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman FRS, NI, HI, SI, TI and then Post Doctorate in the field of X- Ray Crystallography in 2001 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary HI, SI, TI at H. E. J. Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, Pakistan. Dr. Khan is particularly focused on the production of biofuels from biomass such as marine algae and biowastes. In addition, Dr. Khan’s research group is also involved in the development of Medicinal Chemistry. As Principal Investigator and Research Office, he has conducted a number of research projects funded by national and international funding agencies. He gained an adequate experience in bioassay-guided isolation, semi-synthesis and structure elucidation of complex natural products using the powerful tools of spectroscopic techniques such as UV, IR, NMR, MS and X-Ray Crystallography. He is the author of more than 25 scientific articles that have been published in the top class journals of the international repute and achieved the total impact factor of 25.5. He has discovered on of the Novel Marine Alkaloid namely “Jolynamine” from marine brown alga. Moreover, he is the reviewer of ACS, JCSP, AENSI and IDOSI publications. He was an active resource person during various international conferences, workshops and seminars. In addition, he has presented his new discoveries during 23 national and international conferences. He has participated in 9th, 10th and 11th Eurasia Conferences on Chemical Sciences held in Turkey, Philippine and Jordan respectively. Dr. Khan is the dynamic member of a number of scientific bodies and editorial boards of various international journals. He is also HEC Approved Supervisor for Ph.D. scholars. A large number of graduate and postgraduate students have benefited his outstanding research supervision and teaching methodologies which are now serving at their best in different organizations around the globe. In view of his unique achievements he has been recognized as a “Productive Scientist of Pakistan” by the Pakistan Council of Science and Technology.
