Work: • Bioclimatic Architecture: climate-responsive building design • Urban climatology: climate-responsive urban design • Human thermal comfort (outdoor and indoor comfort)
Biographical: I have been conducting research initiatives in the field of Bioclimatic Architecture, which investigates the relation between building design and climate since I started my Master and from 1999 I have been supervising graduate and undergraduate students in diverse topics of Bioclimatic Architecture, such as: lighting and daylighting evaluations, thermal performance evaluations, acoustic measurements and evaluations. In 2002/2003, I started a long-term project in the area of Urban Climatology, investigating the relation between urban design and climate, first carrying out on site temperature measurements in the city of Curitiba, Brazil, and, at a later stage, enlarging the scope of the project within a post-doctoral framework in Israel, where I had a chance to investigate physical phenomena in a urban scale-model and also by means of numerical simulations. At the moment, I am involved in an international cooperation with Israel and Sweden in the area of outdoor thermal comfort. I have also started a project in the field of preventive conservation in museums, seeking the integration of knowledge from Bioclimatic Architecture and Preventive Conservation with in situ temperature and humidity measurements in diverse museological spaces in Brazil. Since 1999, I am associate professor at the Department of Civil Engineering of the Federal Technological University of Paraná (Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná – UTFPR) in Curitiba, Brazil. I teach undergraduate students “Research Methods in Civil Engineering” and “Energy Efficiency in Buildings”, and graduate (Master) students “Sustainable Development” and “Indoor Comfort”. I supervise Master and PhD students at the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Tecnologia, and Master students at the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia Civil, both graduate courses offered by the Federal Technological University of Paraná.

Research Cooperative
21/08/10 09:35:30PM @chief-admin:
Dear Dr Kruger,I have created a new group called "Energy research" inside the Research Cooperative. This group will focus on how energy research is communicated across all media, scientific and popular. The group is open to researchers, editors, translators, publishers, and others. If you would like to look (and perhaps join), please follow this link:
"> Thanks, Dr Peter Matthews (for the Research Cooperative)
