Biographical: Elizete M. Lourenço was born in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil. She received the Electrical Engineering degree as well as the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianópolis, Brazil, in 1992, 1994, and 2001, respectively. She spent the 2000-2001 academic year at Worcester Polytechnique Institute, working towards her Ph.D research. Since 1995, she has been a Faculty member with the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Paraná - UFPR, Curitiba, Brazil. Her research interests are in the area of computer methods for transmission and distribution systems operation.
