Galli Federico (FG) graduated cum laude in 2012 in Industrial Chemistry and Management with a thesis concerning the study of two different highly non ideal systems, p-xylene/water /acetic acid and the dibasic ester mixture, i.e. dimethyl adipate, glutarate and succinate. In October 2012 FG started the PhD School in Industrial Chemistry with the title “Reduction of the carbon footprint of fuels and petrochemicals starting from vegetable oils”. FG studied the biodiesel (BD) synthesis with particular reference to optimizing the reaction conditions and the BD distillation, in order to concentrate the unsatured fraction of methyl esters and treat it to obtain green chemical, i.e plasticizer. After a 1 year post doc at Polytechnique Montrèal, FG won a post doc position at University of Milano, where he is currently studying the catalytical conversion of CO2 into fuels. FG current main research interests concerns: heterogeneous catalysis applied to the production of biofuels and separation processes. Also the process simulation software PRO II (SimSci) has been regularly used for both the calculation of fluid phase equilibria and chemical kinetics in batch or continuous apparatus. FG is co-author of 34 scientific publications on international peer-reviewed journals.
