Work: My primary area of research interest is the development of anxiety in typically-developing children and individuals with developmental disorders. I am particularly interested in the role of cognitive biases and genetic abnormalities in the development of anxiety and also the processes through which the environment affects anxiety. My PhD research used a range of complimentary methodologies to examine anxiety and sociability in Williams syndrome, a rare neurodevelopmental disorder caused by a microdeletion of chromosome 7. Social aspects of atypical development remain an area of interest. I am currently working with A/Prof Jennifer Hudson on a longitudinal research project exploring the role of behavioural inhibition, parent-child interaction and cognitive biases in the development of child anxiety in typically developing children.
