Biographical: Manabu Sumida is Associate Professor, Faculty of Education in Ehime University, Japan. His research area is culture studies and gifted education in science education. He was a member of the TIMSS 2003 study, TIMSS 1999 Video Study and OECD PISA 2006. He received the Young Scholars’ Award from the Japan Society for Science Education in 1996 and from the Society of Japan Science Teaching in 1999 and the Best Paper Presentation in 2007 and 2008 from the Japan Society for Science Education. He is currently Director of the Japan Society for Science Education, Executive Board of East-Asian Association for Science Education, and Country Delegate of the Asia-Pacific Federation of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children.
