Conditions of membership for the International Board of Advisors (The Research Cooperative, 2012) are:

1. ROLE (advisory)

Board members shall advise the network Chief Administrator (currently Dr P. J. Matthews) on any aspect of operation of the Research Cooperative. They may do this in a public or private manner, as they see fit.

2. POWERS (limited)

Board members may ask the network creator, administrators, moderators, and ordinary members about any aspect of operation of the Research Cooperative. They may do this in a public or private manner, as they see fit. They may not ask the Administrator for personal details or contact addresses of Research Cooperative members; contact with our members can be made in the usual manner through our public network.

3. LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES (none)

Board members have no responsibility for day-to-day operation of the network, no responsibility for operational costs, and no general authority over its operation. The current Administrator has full responsibility and authority for operations, and may accept or reject Board advice as he (or a future she) wishes.

4. PRIVILEGES (none)

Board members may be members of the Research Cooperative network, with full rights of participation in our forums and groups, but have no special privileges in their participation in the network (and membership of the network is not required).

5. PERIOD (limited by extendable)

Membership of the Board is for up to one calendar year, from the date of acceptance, and may be extended for a further yearly periods by mutual agreement between the Board member and Chief Administrator

6. MANNER OF DEPARTURE (open)

Board members may withdraw at any time, with or without explanation, and may choose to publically announce and explain their reasons for withdrawal, in any medium they wish; the Chief Administrator may privately ask a Board member to leave on a voluntary basis before the end of an appointed year, but should give reasons for such a request.
