First introduction to the conference support pages

The following explanation was published as a temporary comment on the top page of the IPPA 2009 support pages, when I first began developing them.

****
The 19th Congress of the Indo-Pacific Prehistory Association has been co-organised with the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology

Venue and dates: Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences Conference Centre, Hanoi, Vietnam. Sunday 29 Nov. to Sat. 5 Dec. 2009.

If you are a session organiser (convenor), and would like to have a session page established here for your session, please contact Dr Peter Matthews (researchcooperative-at-gmail-dot-com).

After session pages have been created, convenors will be given administrative control. They can ask speakers to join the Research Cooperative in order to use the session page, and other services on our site (forums for editing, translation, proofreading, and so on).

Members of an IPPA session can communicate with each other or the entire group through the session page, and the Co-op messaging system.

The primary reason for speakers and session convenors to join the Research Cooperative is to solicit help from other Congress participants, and from profiled editors, translators, and others among the wider membership of the Research Cooperative.

Session documents can be uploaded to a session archive linked to each session page. Authors can also post samples in the main forums (see main page of the Research Cooperative), if seeking a possible editor or translator.

Please note: IPPA convenors will advise session speakers about plans for publishing volumes from the conference (the Research Cooperative has no authority in this matter).
