Work: - Pathologist at University Hospitals Leuven (Belgium), with focus on oncologic pathology and molecular pathology. - Professor of Medicine at the University of Leuven (Belgium) - Senior Clinical Investigator of the FWO (Research Fund Flanders, Belgium)
Biographical: In 2000, I obtained my MD degree with cum lauda at the University of Leuven, Belgium (with training in both Belgian and Southafrican hospitals). I was educated as a pathologist at the University Hospitals Leuven and obtained my PhD, entitled “Molecular Genetic analysis of MALT lymphomas” in 2007, also at the University of Leuven in a combined MD/PhD program. In 2005, I was awarded the H. Van Waeyenbergh and Herbert Hoover Fellowship granted by the Belgian American Educational Foundation for Cancer Research at New York University Medical Center. And in 2010, I followed several research & lecture fellowships at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver), Mount Sinai Hospital (Toronto), and Weill Cornell Medical College (New York), sponsored by the FWO (Research Funds Flanders) and the Fullbright Comission for Education Echange between the USA, Belgium and Luxembourg, respectively. Since 2009, I have been appointed as a full staff member at the Pathology Department of University Hospitals. Leuven. And since 2010 I am a senior clinical investigator of the FWO (Fonds voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek, Flanders). My current research interests are oncologic pathology and molecular pathology.
