Best wishes for 2017

Our network lives on, after moving in entirety from the Ning platform to the Jamroom platform.

More importantly, our members live on. I hope that we are all looking forward to a year of good science, and better communication with all the people we care about.

Research and scientific communication depend on us being able to stop, look, and think about the world around us.

Not everyone who would like to do research, learn languages, or teach has suitable opportunities, but we can all learn from the people and world around us, and communicate what we learn to others.

Uncertainty is the reverse side of the coin of knowledge. What is on the face side? Expectation, hope, or certainty?

I know that 2017 can be a better year than 2016, and hope that it will be.

There is no certainty, but I will do my best to tip the balance.
