A botanical-art publishing project - seeking a publisher
I recently met an artist (in Australia) who wishes to publish a series of extremely high-quality watercolour paintings, showing endemic trees of the Queensland rainforest. With a suitable accompanying text by a professional botanist, placing these plants in the context of the evolution of angiosperms and tropical rain-forest floras worldwide, the book would be a landmark for illustration of rainforest biodiversity.
Now I wonder what commercial or non-commercial publishers might consider publishing such a high-cost, high-value book? The proposed book would have value as fine art, as well as scientific and educational value. The cost would be high because each finely-detailed, scientifically-accurate painting might take months to prepare.
Any suggestions would be welcome, at any time.

One good approach is to contact Royal Botanical Gardens Kew in London. They have a world famous library of botany books, illuatrations and archives. They also have a publishing division: http://www.kew.org/about-kew/kew-publishing/index.htmThey might be interested in taking on publication of such an important project themselves, or could tell you who else might be up to the task. Certainly in any event they probably would be interested to know such a project is in the works.
