Open Courses on academic writing, science writing, and scientific writing
D. D. Guttenplan wrote in the global edition of the New York Times (see International Herald Tribune , Nov. 1, 2010, p. 11) that about 250 institutions around the world were putting their courses on the Web, as members of the Open Course Ware Consortium .
A notable early starter in the movement was the Open University of Britain, and an important recent entrant was the African Virtual University , based in Nairobi.
