According to one theory about the origins and spread of wild rice, elephants may have carried the seeds from Asia into Africa, when the sea levels were much lower than they are now.... and long before humans entered the picture, riding their on their high horses, so to speak.

The elephants are the only ones in trouble the numbers of Regent Honeyeaters of the Box and Ironbark eucalypt forests of inland on the east coast of Australia have dwindled alarmingly purely because their habitat has be converted to farmland giving them no respite from the constant seasonal changes which swing dramatically from cold to hot and flood to drought. As you see they have a beautiful character themselves feeding on the nectar of the flowering gums. And though it looks like people have just woken up to the plight of the Regent Honeyeater and have begun planting trees a greater regard for the wild things cannot come quick enough.
