Hotel on Campus of Kasestart University - a Bangkok water world

For the first time in many years I am in Thailand again, visiting the Bangkok Forest Herbarium which is a short walk from the main campus of Kasestart University.

I was lucky to find a hotel on the campus (KU Home Hotel), so can do everything by foot. The campus is huge, and I could discover plants of interest growing along the many canals that pass through this campus.

The whole city area is a former swamp, but everyone seems to think nothing of wading about in water every afternoon after a heavy shower.

The water soon drains away again.

For me this is great, as I study a semiaquatic plant, and this semiaquatic city is a perfect environment for it.

This is just a short visit (three days), but the plant collections at the herbarium are important.
