6th Portuguese science communication conference, SciComPt 2018

Dear colleagues, 

The 6th Portuguese science communication conference, SciComPt, will take place on October 10-12th at Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo. The conference is co-organized by the Portuguese association of science communication and Open Science Hub (Plataforma de ciência aberta). 

This year the conference is dedicated to  Science Open to Society: Participation and Inclusion in Science Communication and will count with keynotes by Ana Godinho, CERN; Antonio Calvo Roy, Asociación Española de Comunicación Científica and  Luisa Massarani Fiocruz e Instituto Nacional de Comunicação da Ciência e Tecnologia. We will be discussing questions such as: What is the role of Communication and Science Education in society? How can Science Communicators contribute to bring science and the different areas of society closer together? How can participation and inclusion be addressed by the Science Communication, and contribute to the building of knowledge and social justice? 

The conference will be preceded by several initiatives directed to the local community. SciComPt participants were challenged to propose and implement science communication activities at schools, homes, libraries, cafes and so on. After the conference, we will be hosting also four workshops in Introduction to Visual Design for Science Communicators, Speaking in Public, Art and Science, Social Networks and Communication of Science.
