Editing automation

Dear Jason,

I wonder if a system could be set up to automatically monitor the overall writing standard of journals - through approximate estimates of error rates in published texts?

Approximate would be enough - the same programs that are used to automate editing tasks might easily be adapted to generate the required statistics, without any need for human checking.

If this was bench-marked against journals of recognized high standard, it could become a useful tool for authors and editorial boards to assess the effectiveness of their review and editing efforts....
