New Zealand and Japan - many connections

There are many kinds of connection between New Zealand and Japan at present. Here I will begin by noting the New Zealand Society of Japan, Kansai (www.nzsocietykansai.com).

I was recently invited to join them for a lunch in Osaka, and learned that after the Kobe earthquake several years ago, they managed to help send a large group of children to New Zealand for an educational break from the disaster area.

The same Society has a branch in Sendai, and might be able to organise something similar for children from the area recently hit by the combination of earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear radiation. Any comments on this idea would be welcome.
