An internet divide and academic isolation, in Germany?
Using Google Analytics, I am able to review where visitors to the Research Cooperative come from, approximately, and how many. The map for Germany for all of 2011 until now is revealing: Berlin appears to be the largest center of internet activity, but remains an island in a largely empty sea. Or to use another metaphor, East Germany is still with us in the form of a silent ghost. From throughout the former West Germany, we have many visitors.
This raises the question of how best to reach researchers, editors, translators, illustrators, and publishers across northeastern Germany.
Present Co-op members in Germany are strongly encouraged to invite colleagues to join from throughout the northeastern region.
One of the main purposes of our network is to help reduce the academic isolation of researchers, and others, in parts of the world where research communication is difficult for economic and historical reasons.
