Are you a scientist or science communicator who wants to learn to write in a simple clear style that is creative, interesting, engaging and accessible? This Professional and Executive Development course will give you a stimulating introduction to the techniques of science writing. It combines an examination of the concepts and techniques involved in science writing with practical writing workshop sessions and critical class discussion of your written work.

The course is aimed at scientists and/or science communicators who want to write in an interesting, engaging and accessible style to suit their audiencewhether that is the general public, younger readers or other scientists. The course combines practical writing workshop sessions and critique/discussion of your own written work with examination of the considerations involved in science writing. Course tutor, Dave Armstrong, is a columnist and playwright who has worked as a museum writer, and has written for educational science publications, and for childrens TV science show Q. He won the fiction category of the 2008 Royal Society of New Zealand Manhire Prize for Creative Science Writing and was a judge for the same prize in 2010.
