Hi...

If you have an interest, please see: University of Auckland

It's a new group. All are welcome to join.

It may seem that I have a grand plan to take over the world, university by university.

It won't happen, but we can at least try to support some sense of community in our network by building focus groups for particular universities.

A few of them at least.

Our group can focus on communication at the university.

What does the university publish? What courses are offered in academic or scientific writing? Does the university produce any of its own textbooks? Does the university provide translation or editorial services for staff, for post-graduate research students? Is there any support for the development of illustrations for publications? Does the university allow theses to be written in languages other than English?

I also happen to be a University of Auckland alumni (BSc 1980, COP 1981, and MSc 1983). The COP means 'Certificate of Proficiency'. I studied Anthropology, Archaeology, and Geology that year, just to keep learning.

I still wake up at night wondering if I remembered to sit the Geology exam.

Even today, I can tell the difference between a rock and a human. So I did learn something!
