Quantcast demographic profile of our US members
Sure looks like lots of educated people have low incomes.
That's a sign that our network really is needed -- to help people publish good papers that have real value (and many different kinds of value can be expected in research) -- and to encourage people to be involved in research communication in many different ways.
Resting on our laurels of a degree qualification and specialization is not a good idea, if we are looking for jobs.
The gender bias also suggests women are more interested in the communication needs of science than men.
Actually, the income spread looks very even... it's only a little more than 25% that have low incomes. Perhaps this is a good figure for employment, and a sign we are not reaching the most important sector for our network! (Young and underemployed graduates).
