Lois, that's terrific that you're working with Corel Painter.
Painter is my main "workhorse" in terms of creating artwork. I've been using it since version 2, in 1994. Of course, I also work in Photoshop. And Illustrator can't be beat for vector-based art. But, as far as I'm concerned, nothing beats Painter for simulating natural media!

But, "medical illustration"?
I don't mean to be cruel, but you apparently have no idea of the training a medically-trained medical illustrator goes through to be able to legitimately make the claim of being a medical illustrator. Check out the website of the Association of Medical Illustrators:
