Peter Olumuyiwa

Olumuyiwa James PETER obtained his PhD Degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Ilorin Nigeria and he did his PhD benchwork at the Institute of Informatics, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava, Slovakia. He is a Lecturer and a Researcher in the Department Mathematical and Computer Sciences with a joint appointment to the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Nigeria. He was a research fellow at the Institute of Informatics, (SAS), Bratislava Slovakia, 2019. He visited the University of Caen Normandy, France, Comenius University, Slovakia, Central European University, Hungary, Institute of Science and Technology, Austria, Ankara University, Turkey, Czech Technical University, Czech Republic, Vrije Universiteit Brussel Belgium, University of Hohenheim Germany and Sofia University, (St Kliment Ohridski), Bulgaria in 2019 on a research mission. He was awarded the Airlangga Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in 2022 and 2023, at the Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Science and Technology, Airlangga University in Surabaya, Indonesia. He served as the Acting Head of the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences from August 1st 2022 to July 31st 2023. Presently, he holds the position of Acting Director at the Center for Data Science and Health Metrics, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo City, Nigeria from August 1st 2023 to date. His primary research focuses on Biomathematics and Infectious Diseases Modelling. Additionally, he has been awarded the EMS-Simons for Africa project research visit to Tuscia University in Italy, under the guidance of Prof. Carlo Cattani, slated for October 27th to November 27th, 2023. He has also been granted a research visit to the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig, Germany slated for December 1st  2023 to February 28th, 2024, as part of the Helmholtz Visiting Researcher Grant. He is an author and co-author of more than 90 research papers in peer-reviewed journals locally and internationally in high impact journals with above 1000 citations on them. He is also a reviewer and editor of some of the top impact journals.
