Ashenafi Manaye Demissie

With over ten years of experience in research and lecturing, Ashenafi has made significant contributions to various organizations and projects. He has held positions such as Junior Instructor at Alage Agricultural Technical Vocational Education and Training College (AATVETC), Junior Researcher and Center Forestry Research Process Coordinator at the Ethiopian Agricultural Research Institute (EIAR), and Assistant Researcher and Center Climate Science Research Process Coordinator at the Ethiopian Environment and Forest Research Institute (EEFRI). Currently, he serves as a Researcher at the Tigray Institute of Policy Studies (TIPS), where he focuses on agricultural modernization with a specific emphasis on climate change and forest research projects.

Ashenafi is a respected member of professional societies, including the Ethiopian Forestry Society (EFS), the Biology Society of Ethiopia (BSE), and the African Forest Forum (AFF). His research interests cover a wide range of topics, including climate-smart agriculture, climate change adaptation and mitigation, climate change vulnerability and modeling, restoration of degraded land, biomass energy, non-timber forest products, industrial plantation, biodiversity conservation, and forest ecosystem valuations.

Ashenafi’s expertise is well-recognized, as he has presented his research findings at numerous national and international conferences. He has also contributed to the academic community through his publications, which include 14  peer-reviewed articles in international journals, two working papers, three national and international conference proceedings, and eight books of abstracts.
