Biographical: Dr. Shakeel Ahmed is a Research Scientist/Associate Professor at the Center for Refining and Petrochemicals of the Research Institute at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He received his PhD degree in Chemistry from KFUPM, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, in 1995, his M.Phil. Degree in Analytical/Inorganic Chemistry in 1989 and M.Sc. degree in Chemistry in 1987 from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan.. Dr. Shakeel's major interests are in the areas of catalysis, inorganic synthesis, total quality management and instrumental analysis. He managed several client funded research projects in area catalysis for petroleum refining applications. He has authored and co-authored over 100 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He is also co-inventor of sixteen issued and several pending patents related to industrial catalysts for various refining and chemical processes. He received several national and international awards including the Chancellor's Gold Medal for standing first in M.Sc., chemistry, 1987 by the president of Pakistan, Engeneering Services award 2007 from VP Saudi Armco, best research paper award from JPI, Japan 2002, and distinguished researcher-RI award 2007.
