kind request for proofreading

Proofreading - REQUESTS

Dear Hemza,

Thanks for using our forums. From your profile, I suppose you are looking for someone with interest or experience in history, politics, or literature research or editing/proofreading.

If you want, please give more detail about your request, and add keyword tags. The more information you can give about what is needed, and when, the more likely it is that someone will find and reply to your request.

Best regards, Peter (Admin., Kyoto)

The Research Cooperative needs a lead community manager

Services archive

As creator of the Research Cooperative, I would like very much to hear from anyone who can offer time and skills as a " lead community manager " for our network.

The lead community manager can do two things:

1. Develop and manage your own community, for people doing work related to your own interests.

2. Find and support other community managers, group administrators, and group moderators in our network (we currently have very few).

The manager needs good social skills, excellent English writing ability, and a genuine interest in research and scientific communication.

This position is different from that of a 'group administrator' or 'forum moderator'. I am looking for someone with the ability and confidence to communicate with many different kinds of people in a polite, informative, encouraging, and constructive manner.

Our network does not have income to offer a wage or salary, but for a suitable person, I can personally offer a small honorarium (or book vouchers, if that is of more interest).

Estimated time required (trial period): minimum 2 hours per week for 4 weeks, continuous (total of 8 hours, including one hour for training).

Starting date: open.

Enquiries: please send me a private note with a brief cv and any ideas or questions you may have about the proposed position. Applicants should already be members of the Research Cooperative, and are expected to understand the academic aims of this network.

If you want to study further what this role might mean, please see:

http://thecommunitymanager.com/

Selection process: I will reply to all enquiries. If more then one good candidate appears, I will try to offer trial periods to more than one candidate, before negotiating a longer term arrangement.

Withdrawal process: Candidates can withdraw their candidacy at any time, and selected candidates can withdraw even after starting a trial.

Payments and payment methods: honorarium to be negotiated. Candidates are welcome to suggest what they think is a reasonable honorarium (for what they are willing and able to do).

Dr Peter Matthews, Admin., Research Cooperative

Help with proofreading please.

Proofreading - REQUESTS

This request is quite clear, but additional information would help:

1. How long is the paper?

2. Is there a deadline? (Approximate, or definite?).

3. Would you like the person making an offer to send a cv, or other formal profile. This is a reasonable request to make, especially if you would like to pay for someone with specific skills related to your subject area.

4. Can any payment be offered, or work in kind? The following phrase can also be used:

"Payment or other compensation to be negotiated".

Best regards, Peter (Admin., Kyoto)

Pennmore Services

Editing - OFFERS

One of the aims of the Research Cooperative is to create a business street effect whereby related businesses all benefit from being easily found in the one well-known area.

It now seems we may be achieving this.

Pennmore has only recently joined our network, but the Pennmore profile page and present editing offer are the top items in a list of results produced in a Google search on the phrase " Pennmore services ".

Following those two items are three pages from the Pennmore Editing Services website itself.... so the company occupies the first five results in 241,000.

For the search phrases " research editing " and " research editors ", our network is the second item in 123,000,000 results, and Pennmore is not on the top page of results.

For these last two search phrases, we must be adding to the visibility of Pennmore editing services to some degree, especially while the present forum offer remains visible as a recent message on the top page of the Research Cooperative.

Volunteer Traditional Illustration Offer

Illustration - OFFERS

Thanks very much for this clearly-stated offer.

For some kinds of communication, fully-professional illustrations are not needed. This offer could be useful (for example) for someone preparing a research seminar, teaching materials for limited distribution within a university, or a conference poster.

Artists can only become professional in a particular area of art (if that is their aim) through practice. This includes not only practice in the art, but also practice in discussing projects with researchers who need an illustration. Researchers, for their part, also need practice in designing and discussing illustrations with illustrators.

One of the aims of the Research Cooperative is to give people wider opportunities to gain experience in all areas related to scientific communication, including scientific art.

Seeking language swap (English x Mandarin)

Services archive

From Dr. Edith Shillue

Dear Research Coop - I'm currently looking for a Mandarin language teacher who may be interested in an advanced 'language swap'.

I'm located in the UK (Ireland). If you're doing any research (education, social sciences or humanities) and would like to spend some time talking via SKYPE, I have extensive experience teaching English composition and frequently work as an editor.

I'm interested in strengthening my speaking skills for a professional environment (immigration and law). If you have experience working in language teaching and would like a resource for questions about English in your research, or about the writing process, I'm probably able to assist you.

If you're interested, drop me a message via my inbox.

Many thanks, Edith Shillue, Research Coop - UK/Ireland.
