Biographical: Born in 1970 at Bangkok, Thailand and is married to Dr. Kwannate Sombatsompop with three children. Awarded MSc and PhD degrees in Polymer Science & Technology, majoring in Polymer Rheology, from University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology (UMIST, UK). After that, he began his academic career as lecturer at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) Bangkok Thailand, and is now Professor in School of Energy, Environment and Materials at KMUTT, Thailand. His present positions are (i) Head of Polymer Processing and Flow (P-PROF) Group, KMUTT (ii) Head of Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI) Centre by Thailand Research Fund (TRF) and Commission on Higher Education (CHE), and (iii) Vice-chairman in Junior Science Talented Project (JSTP) by NSTDA & TRF. For professional services, Professor Sombatsompop worked as Chief Editor of ASEAN Journal on Science and Technology for Development (2002-2005) and is now Editorial Members of 3 international journals and 6 national journals. He is also members of Polymer Society (Thailand) and Thai Academy of Science & Technology (TAST). Professor Sombatsompop is the head of Polymer Processing and Flow (P-PROF) Research Group and has great interests in researches of two main areas; Polymer composites and rheology, and Information science and technology. During the past 10 years of working as academic in KMUTT, Professor Sombatsompop has supervised over 60 master and 10 doctoral students and, together with full-time researchers. He has published over 100 research papers in refereed international journals, nearly 100 papers in national journals and in international conferences, and 5 patents approved and pending. Examples of his research awards include (i) 2000 Outstanding Alumni By KMUT-NB, (ii) 2000 Thailand Young Scientist Award, and (iii) 2002 Thailand Young Technologist Award from Foundation of the Promotion of Science and Technology under the Patronage of H.M. the King, (iv) 2007 Research Award (Information Technology Category) By National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), (vi) 2008 ASAIHL-Scopus Outstanding Young Scientist Award By Elsevier and ASAIHL, and (vii) most recently, 2009 TRF Senior Scholar Award by Thailand Research Fund (TRF).
