Link checking for Research Cooperative

Services archive

Volunteers are needed for the tedious work of checking that links are active, within the many various pages of the Research Cooperative (and in the 'Notes' and Group 'About' sections especially).

We do not plan to check links within the personal blog postings of all members, but it can sometimes be useful to add comments updating links (or asking authors to update links) that have been mentioned by other members in our forums and group pages.

Thanks (in advance),

Peter (Admin., Research Co-op)

Need native English speaker to improve English in scientific paper?

Editing - OFFERS

Strictly speaking, the headline is ungrammatical, but it also conforms to the telegraph style used by newspapers for headlines -- which often leads to amusing ambiguities in newspaper headlines.

I think Julie has made a deliberate stylistic choice here, and the message is not ambiguous.

This doesn't mean that your suggestion is irrelevant. She might like to change the headline in the future in order to freshen the message.

VACATION JOB IN USA

Services archive

Dear Tulasi,If you are serious about this, you need to say more about what kinds of jobs you would like, and what kind of skill you could bring to the job that is not already available locally in the USA. Since this is a research cooperative, you should be looking for something related to your research or study area, or country, or publishing.Good luck...P.

Dear Ahmed,Thanks for your enquiry. Please note:1. I shifted this message to the forum for 'Editing requests'.2. Are you looking for a volunteer? (It is OK to say so!). Are you able to offer payment for help with editing (e.g. an honorarium, or full payment for professional help)? If you can offer payment, you do not need to say what your spending limit is in public, here. This is a matter that can be discussed privately with a potential editor.3. Have you worked with editors previously? Are you familiar with negotiating the cost of editing help, if not working with a volunteer/close colleague? You could ask about this in our group for editors and proofreaders. Some of the people there might like to suggest answers, according to your situation.4. What journal or journals would you like to publish your article in? You need to have some idea about this yourself (and can talk about this in private correspondence with an editor). The final version of your article will need to be edited to suit the page limit, headings style, and referencing style of the publisher you wish to submit to.5. Are you aiming for any particular submission date or other deadline?6. If you visit the profile pages of professional editors who have joined the Research Cooperative, you may find a someone or a company who has good experience with medical or technical editing. You can contact them privately and perhaps include a link to your public request here.Good luck....Peter (Admin., Research Cooperative)
