Dear Dr Saxena,
This sounds like something that would be very useful if it can be incorporated into home-testing kits for infectious diseases.
If there is a possibility of false positive or false negative results, people without medical knowledge may accept home testing (self-testing) results uncritically, or may not know what further observations can be made to confirm a result.
In the case of very serious infectious diseases, it might be best if people are able to use reliable self-testing to avoid going into public places while still not certain about their condition.
Obviously, quick and reliable self-diagnosis would be extremely useful for people who may be exposed to Ebola.
I hope this discovery does lead to many useful developments!
